Childcare Vouchers are now closed to new applicants and Tax-Free Childcare is the latest scheme for parents and carers to sign up to and receive help with paying for their childcare. Although we still accept the traditional form of Childcare Vouchers to cover childcare costs. Parents and carers are beginning to move across to Tax-Free payments.

10 things Parents and Carers should know:-

1.     Parents and Carers will be able to open an online account, through the government website, GOV.UK. You will be able to apply for all your children at the same time when your youngest child becomes eligible.

2.     For every 80p you or someone else pays, the government will top up an extra 20p. This is equivalent of the tax most people pay – 20% which gives the scheme its name ‘tax-free’.

3.     The scheme is available for children under the age of 12, and also available to children with disabilities under the age of 17.

4.     To qualify, parents will have to be in work and earning at least £120 a week and not more than £100,000 per year.

5.     Any eligible working family can use the Tax-Free Childcare scheme.

6.     The scheme is also available for parents who are self-employed.

7.     If you currently have Employer-Supported Childcare, you do not need to switch over to Tax-Free Childcare.

8.     Parents and carers can pay money into their childcare account as and when they like, giving you flexibility to pay more in some months and less at other times.

9.     The process is simple for parents and carers, you will just need to re-confirm your circumstances every 3 months, which can be done online.

10.  If your circumstances changes and you no longer want to pay into the account, then you will be able to withdraw the money, and the government will also withdraw their contribution.
