Rosy Recommends: Fantastically Great Women Who Worked Wonders

05 March 2019

Telling the stories of women who have studied live volcanoes, discovered the secrets of DNA and helped send rockets into space, Kate Pankhurst weaves charming illustrations and incredible facts to create an enchanting picture book of brave, bold and brilliant women from history.

With so many male figures found in our children’s history books, Pankhurst’s celebration of women is a reminder for young girls and boys that women have been- and continue to be- thinkers, creators, activists and achievers in the same, organic, daily way that boys are.

Even for adults, it is fascinating to learn of so many incredible women who have influenced the way we live today yet have gone unrecognised. Instead, the books open discussion about the hardships woman have overcome in order to “work wonders”, creates a positive space for children to learn about gender equality (a conversation that is perhaps not always easy to have with young children…) and allows them to discover that anything is possible when you make the most of your talents.

Children attending our Multi-Activity Camps will have the opportunity to participate in our ‘Fantastically Great’ activities.

To celebrate this partnership, we are giving away 5 copies of the latest 'Fantastically Great Women' book! Head over to our Twitter page to be in with a chance of winning.
