COOKING UP CONFIDENCE
DISCOVER OUR SPECIALIST COOKERY COURSE
Cooking is more than just following a recipe. It is a brilliant way for children to build confidence, learn practical life skills and enjoy working together. At SuperCamps, our Specialist Cookery course gives children the chance to get hands on in the kitchen while having fun and exploring new flavours.
Whether your child already loves cooking or is keen to give it a go, our cookery sessions are designed to be inclusive, engaging and confidence boosting.
What Is the Specialist Cookery Course
Our Specialist Cookery course is designed for children who enjoy creating, tasting and learning through food. Across the day, children complete multiple recipes, developing skills such as measuring, mixing, following instructions and working as part of a team.
All ingredients are included, and activities are carefully planned so children can cook safely with clear guidance from trained staff.
Around the World Cooking in 2026
In 2026, our Cookery course takes children on a journey around the world. Each day introduces recipes inspired by different countries and cultures, giving children the chance to explore new tastes and traditions.
From sweet treats to savoury favourites, children will prepare several dishes throughout the day, building confidence and curiosity as they go. It is a fun and creative way to learn about the world through food.
A Taste of Camp Cooking at Home - Mini Churros With Cinnamon Sugar
To give families a flavour of what our Cookery course is all about, here is a simple camp inspired recipe you can try at home together.
Mini Churros With Cinnamon Sugar
Serves: 2 to 3
Makes: Around 10 to 12 mini churros
Ingredients
125 g plain flour
Half a teaspoon baking powder
A pinch of salt
25 g melted butter or plant based spread
175 to 200 ml boiling water added gradually
500 ml sunflower oil for frying
50 g caster sugar
One teaspoon cinnamon
Method
Mix the flour, baking powder and salt in a bowl.
In a jug, combine the melted butter or plant based spread with 175 ml boiling water.
Pour into the flour mixture and beat quickly until smooth and thick. Add more water if needed.
Rest the batter for ten to fifteen minutes.
Mix the sugar and cinnamon together and spread onto a tray.
Heat the oil in a deep pan to around 170 to 180 degrees. The pan should be no more than one third full. A cube of bread should brown in around forty five to sixty seconds.
With an adult handling the hot oil, pipe short lengths of batter into the oil using a star nozzle.
Cook for two to three minutes, turning carefully, until golden and crisp.
Drain on kitchen paper and roll in cinnamon sugar.
Serve warm.
Vegan Option
To make this recipe vegan, simply swap the butter for a plant based spread. All other ingredients remain the same.
Cooking Safely With Children
Safety is always our priority, both at home and at camp. When cooking together, children can help with measuring, mixing and coating, while adults manage the hot oil and supervise closely. Talking through kitchen safety helps children build confidence while learning important skills.
