Halloween at Home: Spooky Snacks, Games and Party Ideas
Halloween is one of the most exciting nights of the year for children, but you don’t need to head out trick-or-treating to enjoy the fun. With a little preparation you can create a party atmosphere right at home. Here are three simple, family-friendly ideas to get you started.
1) Spooky Banana Ghosts
You will need
• Bananas
• White chocolate, melted
• Chocolate chips or raisins
Steps
-
Peel the bananas and cut each in half.
-
Dip the bananas into the melted white chocolate to coat.
-
Push two chocolate chips or raisins near the top for eyes, and one lower down for a mouth.
-
Place on a tray lined with baking paper and chill in the fridge until set.
2) Mummy Wrap Game
You will need
• Toilet rolls or crepe paper streamers
Steps
-
Split into pairs. One person is the “mummy,” and the other is the wrapper.
-
On “go,” wrap the mummy as quickly as possible from shoulders to feet.
-
The first pair to finish wins, or judge the neatest wrap for a prize.
-
Swap roles and play again for more laughs.
3) Haunted Treasure Hunt
You will need
• Small sweets or toys
• Paper and pen for clues
• A bag or bucket for collecting
Steps
-
Hide sweets or toys around the house.
-
Write simple clues or riddles leading from one hiding place to the next.
-
Give the children the first clue to get started.
-
Let them work together to solve the clues and collect the “treasure.”
