Is your child captivated by the outdoors? Always building dens in the back garden?

Raw Adventure Camps is part of the Super Camps group who have run multi-activity camps across the UK for the past 13 years. Raw Adventure is a week long, day camp programme for 8-14 year olds, run within a safe and structured environment.

Over the 5 days at camp they will explore, discover and apply a whole new set of skills through activities such as tracking and navigation, shelter construction and radio building in a team-orientated outdoor environment. They will learn all the fundamentals needed to live and survive in the outdoors without heading off into the back of beyond!

To ensure your child gets the most out of their week, we have teamed up with legendary British Explorer and writer, Benedict Allen, who has endorsed the RAW Adventure Programme.

Benedict Allen

Adventurer and explorer Benedict Allen is the author of ten books, two of them bestsellers, and has made six TV series for the BBC. He pioneered the filming of genuine expeditions and was dubbed by Radio Times “Televisions most fearless man”!

“I’ve been an adventurer and explorer for twenty-five years, and had to learn my craft the hard way, alone in the jungles, deserts and arctic wastes. If only this course had been available to me! All the principles of being an adventurer are here – how to make your shelter, how to gather water, build a fire. And, as important, how to work as a team, lead and navigate. But these aren’t the skills you need just in the wilderness – they are skills that equip you for life. You begin to learn your strengths, learn your weaknesses, how to support those around you, and sometimes the importance of going it alone.

Participants of the RAW programme are each given extracts from my own expedition journals to help stimulate their own ideas through the week as their confidence and knowledge base grows. Hopefully, with the friendly encouragement and guidance of the RAW team instructors they’ll begin to appreciate what to me, exploration is really about – listening and learning from your environment. Living with Indians in the Amazon on my own first expedition I saw very quickly that you’ve got to start seeing the forest as a resource that can provide you with a shelter, food and medicine. This is the way I’ve survived in potentially hostile environments all over the world – but being an explorer in the end is also about being aware of the world around you, and that’s important in whatever walk of life you eventually choose.”
