Will my child choose the activities?
The programme is designed to be progressive and rewarding for each child, and is based on specific developmental goals. For this reason, the programme is set for the week, but all the activities are very much based on personal choices and creativity.
What happens if there is bad weather?
The RAW Programme will continue to run even in poor weather unless it makes the activities hazardous, when activities will be done inside our large canvas tents. Please make sure your children bring appropriate clothing if rain is likely (see “What type of clothes does my child need to bring?”
My child has special needs – can they come to camp?
It is our policy not to exclude any child due to special needs, wherever possible. The needs of each child vary, so decisions are made on a case-by-case basis, depending on the level of support each individual child requires to enable them to fully participate in and enjoy activities at Raw Adventure Camps. We request that parents of children with special needs contact Head Office to discuss how Raw Adventure Camps can best accommodate their child, and consider whether any special arrangements need to be made.
English is not my child’s first language – is that okay?
We welcome children for whom English is not their first language. We do ask that your child is able to communicate in basic English to be able to attend Raw Adventure Camps. This is in their best interests to ensure their enjoyment and safety. For example, your child will need to be able understand the facilitators, let a member of staff know if something is wrong, understand emergency procedures, and be able to interact with other children on camp. We would be happy to discuss this with you by phone if you are unsure.
What if my child is ill and unable to come to camp?
If you opted to pay for the Holiday Protection Scheme at the time of booking, you will receive a full refund minus the Holiday Protection Scheme premium, when a doctor’s note is provided. If you have not paid for the Holiday Protection Scheme (please see full details of the scheme below), we regret that there are no refunds available.
What is the Holiday Protection Scheme?
If your child is ill on the morning of camp, we regret that we are not able to take them on camp that day. If they fall ill during the course of the day, we will contact you and ask you to come and collect them, and we will make them as comfortable as possible in the meantime. In an emergency, medical advice or emergency treatment will also be sought unless you advise us that you do not want this to happen.
Can I pay a deposit?
Full payment for summer 2010 is due on the 18th of June for Summer 2010. Bookings made after these dates need to be paid in full please due to the proximity of camp. If you have an outstanding balance, balance payments can be made by cheque (please write “Balance payment” and your booking reference number on the back of the cheque) or by credit/debit card over the phone – please note that there is a 2.5% transaction fee for credit cards. We do not issue reminders, so we ask you to remember the balance deadline if you have paid a deposit.
Can I change my booking?
Raw Adventure Camps regularly receives a high volume of applications and we will make our decision on your applications as quickly as we can. You will hear from us by email and possibly by phone initially. Please also visit Work for Raw for updates on processing timelines.

When do the camps run?
- Raw Adventure Camps run for one week at a time during the summer holidays.
- The core programme times are 9.20am – 3.30pm.
- Please ensure your children are dropped off by 9.20am at the latest so they have time to get settled before the programme starts for the day.
- We also offer free drop-off and pick-up times around the core hours (8.30am – 9.20am and 3.30pm – 4.00pm) to give you time to get to us and sign your children in and out in the morning and afternoon.
- From 4.00pm – 5.30pm we offer parents a late care option for a payment of £25 per week if you would like to pick-up a little later.
- During drop-off, pick-up and late care periods, children will get the opportunity to continue working on adventure camp projects they
have started during the day. These times are, of course, fully supervised and organised by our Raw Adventure Facilitators.
Any time between 8.30am and 9.20am.
What time can I pick my children up in the afternoon?
If you do not choose the late care option you will need to pick up between 3.30pm and 4.00pm. If you opt for the late care option you can pick up between 3.30pm and 5.30pm.
What happens at drop-off/collection?
- We ask you to sign your child/ren in when you drop off, and sign them out at the end of the day.
- We assume that whoever signs a child in will also be the person collecting them in the afternoon. If this is not the case, please tell out staff at sign in so we can arrange a password for the person collecting to use.
- If your plans change during the day, please call your Raw Programme Manager’s mobile number (provided on your first day at camp) to let the staff know who will be collecting the child on your behalf.
- In addition, please let us know in advance if you would like to collect early so the Raw Programme Manager can have your child and their belongings ready for when you arrive.
Children will be grouped by their age – age ranges will depend on the number of children on camp.
Will my child need to bring a packed lunch?
- Children should bring a healthy, balanced packed lunch and extra snacks for drop-off/pick-up and late care periods.
- Please provide ice packs during hot weather, as we are unable to provide refrigeration facilities.
- We recommend that children bring a refillable drinks flask or water bottle to take to activities with them.
- Sporty, comfortable clothes which are suitable for an active day; a sun hat for when it’s sunny; a jacket for cooler weather; (at Gubbins Farm wellies are also recommended in wet weather). Their best clothes are not advisable!
- Some days it is necessary to wear long trousers, but please see your Raw Programme Manager for details of which days these will be (no need for the first day).
- If it is wet, 2 pairs of shoes and socks, as well as a warm top, waterproof jacket and trousers, are recommended.
Only for Gubbins Farm Adventures – swimming is not part of the Raw Adventure Programme except at Gubbins Farm.
