RAW Adventure Facilitators
The people who lead and run our camps are integral to the success of the programme. Our RAW Adventure Facilitators' relevant experience, enthusiasm, skill, and passion for the outdoors make our RAW camps the place to be for adventure and fun this summer! They are handpicked and trained to ensure our camps encourage children to enjoy adventure and exploration in a safe and exciting environment. All our Adventure facilitators are CRB and reference-checked.We work to a usual maximum ratio across the camp of 1 member of staff to 10 children, with teams having 1 or 2 facilitators leading depending on the activity.
We believe that exploring the outdoors with like-minded people through team-based activities as a hugely positive influence on a child’s development. This is reflected in every aspect of RAW; the character of the whole camp will stem from this commitment to immerse children in the outdoors from the very start!
RAW Programme Times
RAW Adventure Camps run from 9.20am until 3.30pm, with drop off from 8.30am, and pick up until 4.00pm. If you would like to be able to pick up after 4.00pm, until 5.30pm, we ask for a late care fee of £25 per week.During the drop off, pick up and late care periods, the children will get the opportunity to continue working on adventure camp projects they have started during the day. These will all be supervised and directed by the RAW facilitators.
What to Bring
- A healthy and balanced packed lunch including extra snacks for break times and a refillable drinks flask (please note we cannot provide refrigeration or food heating facilities).
- Sporty/comfortable clothes which are suitable for an active day; a sun hat for when it’s sunny; a jacket for cooler weather; wellies are recommended for Gubbins Farm in wet weather. Their best clothes are not advisable!
- Some days it will be necessary to wear long trousers, but please see your RAW Programme Manager for details of which days these will be (no need for the first day). If it is wet, 2 pairs of shoes and socks, as well as a warm top, waterproof jacket and trousers, are recommended.
- For our cooking programme towards the end of the week, we will be demonstrating some wilderness techniques, but may ask you to supply some more accessible food for your child to cook themselves (e.g. pasta/beans). This is not a lunch substitute!
- We ask you to ensure that children have had their first application of sun cream in the morning, and then send them with sun cream – we will remind and assist them in reapplying it during the day unless you advise us otherwise.
- We endeavour to return lost property where possible but in order to do this we ask that all belongings are clearly named.
