Daycare Trust's tenth annual Holiday Childcare Costs Survey has highlighted that 62% of local authorities in England have cut their budgets for childcare and play services since last year and almost 50% are offering a decreased level of holiday childcare provision.

As a working mum finding reliable stimulating childcare is always a challenge and looking at the Daycare Trust’s findings it’s not hard to see why.

Traditionally Childminders are often reluctant to provide off-the-cuff holiday care as this generally takes up places which can be used by other children during the school term. Family is often an obvious choice but not always provides the variety, excitement and play with peers that children want during their time away from school.
