I can’t work for the whole summer-should I still apply?
Yes! Super Camps are able to offer part season contracts (including part time weeks) due to the variation in booking levels from week to week. A minimum of 2 weeks work is required for part-season contracts during the summer and a minimum of 2 days per week is required for part time work.
I currently live overseas - can I still apply?
We accept applications from overseas candidates however we suggest applying once you are in the UK. If you are not a UK resident you must ensure you have the correct work permit/visa and have a UK address in order for us to be able to perform a background check on you for the time you have spent in the UK. We also need a copy of a police check from you previous country of residence.
You will be required to attend a Central Training/Selection day in the UK. Please note, Super Camps run day camps (not residential), therefore all staff are expected to provide their own accommodation.
What are the chances of me being offered work if I am a reserve?
In the Summer of 2009, 95% of our reserve staff that attended central training were offered work. Super Camps will always prioritise reserves who are trained over those who are not! The more flexible you are (with dates and sites and late availability) the greater the chances of being offered work.
Will Super Camps provide accommodation?
As Super Camps run day camps (not residential) all staff are expected to have their own accommodation and be able to travel daily to their Super Camps site.
Will I be required to undertake any background checks?
All appointed staff will be required to undertake a Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure which will be facilitated by Super Camps free of charge. If you do have a record, you will need to declare this on your application form. Super Camps will then use their discretion in terms of the relevance of your act in relation to working within a childcare setting. On occasions the CRB disclosures do not get back to us before a contract begins, on these occasions is advantageous if you already have a CRB disclosure from a previous employer.
Will I need to attend any training?
Yes. If you are shortlisted you will be required to complete an on-line test based on our online training programme; following this you will be required to attend:
If you perform well on this day you will have your appointment confirmed and will be required to attend:
What Hours will I work?
Your basic hours of work will be one of the following shifts 8.00am until 5.15pm, 8.30am until 5.45pm or 8.45am until 6.00pm. You are entitled to a 30 minute unpaid lunch break at times to be agreed with your manager.
What happens if I’m sick and can’t attend work?
If you are sick and unable to attend camp, you must notify the HR department at your earliest convenience via the duty mobile number provided (ideally between the hours of 6.30am and 8.30pm), if there is no reply please ensure you send a text or leave a voicemail. We then ask that you update HR that evening with the expected length of your absence.
