How does our training process work?
Training Overview
We pride ourselves on delivering informative training in an interactive, relaxed environment. Our training is essential for anyone wishing to work on a Super Camps site as well as covering transferable skills which are required in all areas of working with children. Each member of staff who works for Super Camps is required to attend two types of training day (Site Managers see below).- The first day is our ACTIVITY INSTRUCTOR CENTRAL TRAINING DAY. These are held in Oxford and London on several dates prior to both our Easter and Summer seasons. Activity Instructors are required to attend this day prior to working on site for the first time and then every two years after that.
- The second day is our SITE SPECIFIC SET UP AND TRAINING DAY held at each site prior to us opening camp. All members of staff are required to attend this day prior to each season they work.
- For example. If you attend one of the Easter Activity Instructor Central Training Days you will not be required to attend another prior to the summer however you will be required to attend the Site Specific Training and Set Up Day prior to both the Easter and Summer seasons.
These training days are a requirment to work for Super Camps and are unpaid. Any costs incurred, including transport to and from the venue are the responsibility of each individual member of staff. Please bring a packed lunch with you to all central and site-specific training days as most of our sites do not have a shop close by.
Returning Staff
If you are returning to us for another season and attended an Activity Instructor Central Training Day in 2008 then you will not be required to attend again in 2009.If you last attended an Activity Instructor Central Training Day in 2007 or before you will be expected to attend prior to working for us in 2009 (there will be no Activity Instructor Central Training Day for the February Camps).
All returning staff are required to attend the Site Specific Training and Set Up Day on the site you have been appointed to. You will be updated on all that is new for 2009 as well as receiving extra training and setting the site up.
Site Managers
You will be required to attend a Site Manager Training weekend once every two years as well as running the Site Specific Training and Set Up Day at the site you have been appointed to manage prior to each season you work. The Site Manager Training weekend is held in Oxford prior to both the Easter and Summer seasons. We pay for all accommodation and meals so the participants can concentrate on how to run a Super Camps site. This weekend is a requirement to work for Super Camps and is unpaid.
You will then be required to run your camp's Site Specific Training and Set Up Day for which you will be paid. This is an important day as it is your chance to meet the team you will be managing and get the site ready to sign children into on the first day.
Please note
Failure to complete the necessary training regardless of whether you are a new or returning member of staff may result in Super Camps withdrawing your offer of work.
