What age does my child need to be?
Super Camps accepts children aged 4 – 14 inclusive.

When do the camps run?
  • Monday – Friday (not Bank Holidays) during School Holidays.
  • Children can attend for anything from a single day to the full holiday period!
  • Our core timetabled hours are 9:30am – 4:30pm.
  • Please drop your child off by 9:20 at the latest, so that they have time to settle in before the activities start.
  • Outside of these hours we operate our FREE Extended day from 8am – 9:20am and from 4:30pm – 6pm. During this time various non-timetabled, fully supervised Free Choice Activities will be on offer (such as art table, games and sport).
  • All children must be collected by 6pm please. Our staff work very hard for us and they are only contracted until 6pm, so we ask you to respect this. We reserve the right to charge an additional fee of £5 per additional 15 minutes. If you are running late, please call your Site Manager’s mobile number (provided on the first day at camp) to keep the staff informed.

What time can I drop my children off in the morning?
Children can be dropped off any time between 8am and 9.20am.

What time can I pick my children up in the afternoon?
Children can be collected between 4.30pm and 6pm.

    What happens at drop off/collection?
  • We ask you to sign your child in when you drop off, and sign them out at the end of the day.
  • We assume that whoever signs a child in at drop off will also collect them out in the afternoon, unless told otherwise. If this is not the case, please tell the member of staff at the sign in desk and arrange a password for the person collecting to use.
  • If your plans change during the day, please call your Site Manager’s mobile number (provided on your first day at camp) to let the staff know who will be collecting the child on your behalf.
  • If you need to collect your child before 4:30pm on any day, we ask you to pick them up at 3pm (during afternoon break) to minimise disruption, and to make your Site Manager aware of your plans at drop off.

How will my child be grouped?
Please click here for details of the different age groups. Occasionally we need to combine age groups to meet ratio requirements and ensure the best experience for the children on camp. This only tends to occur during quieter weeks. If your child would like to be grouped with a friend we are happy to try and accommodate this. Please advise us at the time of booking - we are not always able to accommodate grouping requests on the day, as the groups have already been arranged by then.

Will my child need to bring a packed lunch?
  • Children should bring a healthy, balanced packed lunch and drink suitable for an active day, plus any snacks for break times or the Free Choice Activities sessions. Please provide ice packs during hot weather, as we are unable to provide refrigeration facilities.
  • Squash is provided for the morning and afternoon breaks, and water is available throughout the day.
  • It is a good idea for children to bring their own plastic refillable water bottle, so that this can be taken with them for outdoor activity sessions.
  • The first half of the lunch hour is an activity free zone to encourage children to eat all their lunch. After this there is time for free play.

What type of clothes does my child need to bring?
  • Sporty, comfortable clothes are ideal to wear (tracksuit bottoms/shorts, T-shirt, trainers – ideally non marking): not their best outfit, please, as we plan to keep them busy and active!
  • An apron/old shirt for creative activities is handy.
  • Children will be both indoors and outdoors, so please provide appropriate clothing – a sun hat for the sun, a jacket for cooler weather, 2 pairs of shoes if it is wet (especially for Gubbins Farm, where wellies are recommended in wet weather). .

Will my child need swimming kit?
Please provide swimming kit every day for sites which offer swimming and/or Aqua Slide (in case of timetable changes, to avoid disappointment). .

    What about sun cream?
We ask you to ensure that children have had their first application of sun cream in the morning, and then send them with sun cream – we will then remind and assist them in reapplying it during the day unless you advise us otherwise.

What should my child NOT bring?
Money (we do not operate a tuck shop), mobile phones (if it is essential for your child to have a mobile phone we require this to be handed in to the Group Leader), any other valuables or precious possessions – we cannot be held responsible if items go missing, nor compensate for them, and we hate to see children disappointed.

What if my child loses something?
We cannot guarantee the return of lost property, but we ask that all clothing and kit is clearly named with the child’s name to help us to return on request any lost items

How many staff will supervise the children?
For the Starter Crews, the normal group size is up to 12. For the Action and Elite Crews the normal group size is up to 16. Sessions will have 1 or 2 members of staff, depending on the activity. Across the camp we aim for an overall staff ratio of 1:10.

What experience do Super Camps staff have?
At Super Camps we know that the key to running a successful camp is to employ great staff! We select our staff from a wide range of backgrounds to ensure a great balance of skills, experience and qualifications on camp. A majority of the staff we select will be qualified in – or studying towards a career in – education, childcare or leisure. Additionally the Site Manager, who take overall charge of the site and who will be your main point of contact, is usually a qualified teacher or has significant camp experience. All our staff are fully trained through our thorough in-house training scheme and are reference checked and CRB checked.

Do you have qualified first aiders on camp?
We employ suitably qualified first aiders at all of our sites

    What is the timetable?
  • The core hours of 9:20am – 4:30pm are divided into 8 different activity sessions of 40 minutes each, plus an hour for lunch and two 20 minute morning and afternoon breaks (all breaks are fully supervised). Some activity sessions are run as double sessions of 1 hour 20 minutes (depending on the activity and the age of the children).
  • Please note that sometimes activity programmes have to change due to unsuitable weather or other circumstances beyond our control.

Will my child choose the activities?
  • For the Starter and Adventure Crews, we put together the timetable, using our extensive experience of what works best.
  • For the Action and Elite Crews, 4 of the 8 sessions per day are timetabled for the children. The remaining 4 sessions are “Options”. These “guided free choice” sessions allow the children to choose from a shortlist of activities offered by the Site Manager – giving plenty of opportunity for expressing their preferences!
  • Children will be encouraged to participate in all activities, but will not be made to take part in something they do not want to.

Will my child have the chance to try out the mobile Climbing Wall?
Our 24ft mobile Climbing Wall is incredibly popular and with 62 sites running during the coming seasons our aim is to cover as many sites as possible to allow lots of children the opportunity to experience it! Please go to Camps, Dates & Prices and select your chosen site to see if the Climbing Wall will be visiting for your chosen dates. Please note that the Climbing Wall is for children aged 6 and over and that, as with all our activities, the timetable is subject to change in the event of weather or other circumstances beyond our control.

What happens if there is bad weather?
Super Camps has access to a variety of indoor and outdoor space at each site. We always try to make the most of the good weather by using the outdoor areas, however when this is not possible, we will make greater use of the indoor space.

My child has special needs – can they come to camp?
It is our policy not to exclude any child due to special needs, wherever possible. The needs of each child vary, so decisions are made on a case-by-case basis, depending on the level of support each individual child requires to enable them to fully participate in and enjoy activities at Super Camps. We request that parents of children with special needs contact Head Office to discuss how Super Camps can best accommodate their child, and consider whether any special arrangements need to be made.

English is not my child’s first language – is that okay?
We welcome children for whom English is not their first language. We do ask that your child is able to communicate in basic English to be able to attend Super Camps. This is in their best interests to ensure their enjoyment and safety. For example, your child will need to be able understand the instructors, let a member of staff know if something is wrong, understand emergency procedures, and be able to interact with other children on camp. We would be happy to discuss this with you by phone if you are unsure.

What if my child is ill and unable to come to camp?
If you opted to pay for the Holiday Protection Scheme at the time of booking, you will receive a full refund minus the Holiday Protection Scheme premium, when a doctor’s note is provided. If you have not paid for the Holiday Protection Scheme (please see full details of the scheme below), we regret that there are no refunds available.

What is the Holiday Protection Scheme?
For your peace of mind, our optional Holiday Protection Scheme (an additional £1.50 per day) will protect your booking if your child is ill or injured.
  • This would apply to ill health/injury either to the child or parent if it meant that the child was not able to attend.
  • You will receive a full refund for all days missed, minus the HPS premium, on receipt of a doctor’s certificate.
  • Cover excludes pre-existing medical conditions and claims relating to swine flu/influenza.

What will happen if my child falls ill on camp?
If your child is ill on the morning of camp, we regret that we are not able to take them on camp that day. If they fall ill during the course of the day, we will contact you and ask you to come and collect them, and we will make them as comfortable as possible in the meantime. In an emergency, medical advice or emergency treatment will also be sought unless you advise us that you do not want this to happen.

When does the Early Booking Rate end?
For Summer 2010, the Early Booking Rate for existing camps ends on Wednesday 3rd March 2010. For sites that are operating for the first time in 2010, the Extended Early Booking Rate is available until Friday 4th June so book early for big savings!

    Can I pay a deposit?
Full payment for February Half Term 2010 is due on the 29th January. The deadline for Easter 2010 is 12th March and 18th June for Summer 2010. Bookings made after these dates need to be paid in full please due to the proximity of camp. If you have an outstanding balance, balance payments can be made by cheque (please write “Balance payment” and your booking reference number on the back of the cheque) or by credit/debit card over the phone – please note that there is a 2.5% transaction fee for credit cards. We do not issue reminders, so we ask you to remember the balance deadline if you have paid a deposit.

    Can I change my booking?
  • If you give us 7 days (or more) notice before the date(s) you would like to change, we can change dates within the same holiday season (eg. Summer) for you subject to availability, free of charge.
  • If you give us less than 7 days notice before the date(s) you would like to change, we will endeavour to change dates within the same season for you subject to availability, on payment of a £10 amendment fee. Any additional payment needed (eg. if a full week is broken up into 5 individual days) would also be payable. The amendment fee applies each time you contact us to make a change and is necessary to cover admin and staffing costs.

    Can I cancel my booking?
  • If you give us 14 days (or more) notice before the date(s) you would like to cancel, we will refund all monies paid less the equivalent of £10 per day deposit.
  • If you give us less than 14 days notice before the date(s) you would like to cancel, we regret that no refund is payable except in the case of illness/injury under our Holiday Protection Scheme (see above).
